Interior Design

We believe that Interior Design actually begins in the parking lot. What is the person attending church expecting to see when they enter your place of worship? Is the signage adequate for directing visitors to your facility? When they enter your worship space do they immediately see what is important to you? Designing a space where we meet and worship our God is an awesome yet exhilarating responsibility.

Voorhees Design can develop an interior design "master plan" for your church, fellowship hall, administration and educational facilities with the interior finishes and colors that will produce a coordinated look for present and future needs. We work with architects and other consultants such as acoustians, lighting designers and engineers. We speak their language. We are knowledgeable in codes and regulations. We are budget oriented and can work on projects ranging from small renovations to historical restorations or new construction. Voorhees Design will ask the right questions to help you discern the design vision that is appropriate for you.

Liturgical Consulting

Liturgical worship is more than just words. It is the language of theology and prayer, music and preaching; it is the language of space, movement and community interaction. Whether processing change to an existing facility or developing a new building, there are times when outside professional services are required.

Cindy Evans Voorhees can assist congregations in sifting through the myriad of decisions that need to take place during a building process. She can advise in the formulation of a building committee, selection of the architect and general contractor and guide in the bidding and building process. Voorhees Design assists communities by incorporating their particular worship style into a building program that reflects their spiritual beliefs.

Project Management

At times a faith community needs someone to manage their construction project whether it is a remodel or new construction. Construction law can be an awesome responsibility. Collecting proof of insurance with an additional insured on the church's property is part of good management. Tracking '20-Day Preliminary Notices' for the purpose of labor and material releases can be intimidating if no one has this experience. Cindy Evans Voorhees has over twenty years experience in the construction industry and is a licensed general contractor. She has acted as the 'owner's representative' on several construction projects over the years. By offering project management to the company's professional services, it has alleviated the stress and conflict of the building process.

Workshops, Seminars and Retreats

A worshiping community should generally process and evaluate the changes that need to take place before they begin a building or renovation project. By hiring a professional neutral party to listen to the priorities and perspectives within the community and decipher their goals and objectives, the community can achieve consensus and alleviate conflict.

Cindy Evans Voorhees has conducted a variety of workshops, seminars and retreats to assist church leadership in education, master planning and strategic planning by taking the fear and mystery out of the building process. These sessions answer questions such as:
  • How does a community communicate their history or corporate culture within the architecture?
  • How will the architecture function under various worship styles, multi-generational and multi-cultural settings?
  • What are the current trends in church architecture today?

Voorhees Design can customize a workshop, seminar or retreat to help you address your current and future needs to optimize the outcome of your building project.
